In Laravel
In a Laravel project, a diff helps most during an upgrade. The upgrade guide does not list every change to the skeleton's config files. It links to a GitHub comparison of the laravel/laravel repository between versions instead, for example 12.x...13.x.
To see how one of your config files differs from the framework's defaults, compare it with the copy inside the framework. Paste both files here, or diff them in the terminal:

Why does a line show as changed when it looks the same?
Line endings and trailing spaces are not the cause here: the checker converts Windows line endings to LF and removes trailing spaces before it compares. The usual cause is indentation, for example tabs on one side and spaces on the other after a formatter ran. Tick "Ignore whitespace" to ignore indentation and repeated spaces.
If the line still shows as changed, look for characters that look alike, such as curly quotes (’) in place of straight ones ('). Text copied from a chat app or a document often has them.
Can I compare two files without pasting them?
Yes, with Git: git diff --no-index old.php new.php compares any two files, also outside a repository. The output uses the same unified format as a normal git diff.
